This policy sets out how DailyBrief UK is edited and the standards every published article must meet. It applies to all staff writers, editors and contributors. DailyBrief.uk is operated by DailyBrief Digital Media Ltd. (Private Limited Company, registration number 15684273), and editorial responsibility rests with Editor-in-Chief and Responsible Publisher Eleanor Whitcombe.
Our mission
Concise, verified briefings on UK politics, business and public affairs — substance over noise. Every briefing should answer “What do I need to know?” in as few words as possible, without sacrificing verification or context.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are made solely by the editorial team under the Editor-in-Chief, who has final say on all content. Commercial relationships, advertisers and partners have no influence over what we cover or what we conclude. Commercial activity is managed separately by our Commercial Partnerships Lead and is never combined with editorial roles. Conflicts of interest must be declared to the Editor-in-Chief, who decides whether reassignment or disclosure is required.
Accuracy & sourcing
- Topic research uses primary and reputable secondary sources; we link to the original document, dataset or statement wherever possible.
- Every article is drafted by a named writer who is responsible for their work — we do not publish anonymous or unattributed articles.
- Editorial review checks accuracy and structure before fact-checking of key claims, figures and dates.
- No article is published without final approval by an editor.
- Articles are periodically reviewed and updated where the underlying facts may change; updated articles show an updated date.
Our full sourcing methodology, including how we weigh evidence and which official bodies we rely on, is published on Sources & Standards.
Sponsored content & advertising
Sponsored, paid or affiliate content is always clearly labelled as such, visually distinct from editorial content, and never written or approved by the same process as news briefings. Advertisers receive no preview or approval rights over editorial coverage. Advertising enquiries are handled by advertising@dailybrief.example, separately from the newsroom.
Use of AI tools
DailyBrief UK may use AI-assisted tools to support research organisation, drafting, summarisation or editing. These tools never replace editorial judgement: every published article is reviewed and approved by a human editor. We do not publish unreviewed AI-generated content, and where automation plays a significant role in a specific piece, reader-facing disclosure is added.
Corrections & complaints
Errors are corrected promptly and transparently under our Corrections Policy, which includes a clear escalation route to the Editor-in-Chief.
Governance
This policy is owned by the Editor-in-Chief and reviewed at least annually, or earlier when regulation or industry practice changes. Questions about this policy: editorial@dailybrief.example.
